City Unveils Three Proposed Plans For Zoo

The city of Duluth held a public meeting Tuesday to unveil three possible plans for the future of the Lake Superior Zoo.

The plans look to compact the existing zoo into a roughly 10-acre space, and convert a portion of the Zoo’s land into a public park on the St. Louis River Corridor.

“I think — for the most part — people feel pretty positively about it. Those who like the zoo like that we are re-committing to it,” said Jim Filby Williams, with the city of Duluth.

Dozens of community members attended Tuesday night’s meeting to give their input.

A finalized proposal will be unveiled in the coming months.
