Activists Hold Rally Outside Enbridge’s Superior Offices
A group of environmental activists staged a protest in front of the Enbridge’s offices in Superior Monday.
A coalition of native and community action groups organized the rally.
The crowd gathered in front of the Douglas County Courthouse before crossing the street and occupying the space in front of the Enbridge offices.
The protesters were calling on Enbridge to agree to a debate with tribal leaders over the potential environmental hazards of oil pipelines.
“Ancestors have taught me that we protect the resources we have, so that we have fresh water, clean air, and all that,” said Tania Aubid, a protester at the event.
Enbridge released a statement saying the protesters are a vocal minority, and support for Enbridge projects continues to grow as they engage in dialogue with landowners, tribal, county and state leadership.
