Coffee Beans Go Down in Price

Lower Prices for Coffee Beans

The cost of coffee beans looks to be going down, but does that mean less for a cup of joe at your favorite coffee shop?

The Lake Superior Bakehouse in Duluth roasts its own coffee beans in small batches and says they’ll appreciate the lower overhead costs.

Coffee roasting is only one part of their whole operation.

And lower costs for coffee beans just means they’ll use the extra wiggle room for other options.

“Our South American beans, those prices are going to drop, which means that we’ll have a little more leeway and leverage that we can experiment with other kinds of single-origin beans,” explains shop owner and head baker Katina Petsoulis. “You’ll see more variety with us; we’re going to do more fun stuff, just because we have so many more fun things going on here.”

One report says South American coffee beans could go down in price by as much as 50 cents per pound.
