Draft Plans For Eleven Parks Unveiled At Public Meeting
The parks are all part of the St. Louis Corridor Initiative
At Thursday’s meeting eleven mini-master plans were unveiled for parks along the St. Louis River.
The purpose of the meeting was just for the city to ask the public, “Are we getting it right so far?”
These first draft plans come from input provided by residents, city staff and user groups. Thursday they wanted to get feedback to see if people felt they were going in the right direction.
The displays included lists of improvements, priorities and a concept plan. They also included one very important thing: the price.
“Tonight we actually put some dollar figures to some of the different improvements or amenities that folks are asking for in their parks so they can kind of see the cost associated with some of these things that would require funding to implement,” said Lisa Luokkala, project coordinator.
There were comment cards at the meeting for people to fill out at the meeting. For those who missed the meeting starting Friday the plans will be posted online where people can comment for two more weeks.
After the two weeks the plans will be adjusted and finalize before being approved by the Parks and Recreation Commission and City Council in March and April.
