Duluth Celebrates Go Red For Women Campaign
Enger Tower lit up red to support the American Heart Association
The American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign is meant to raise awareness for heart disease in women.
Duluth’s skyline will be participating by lighting up Enger Tower red beginning Thursday at dusk. The tower will remain red for Friday night.
Also in honor of Go Red for Women, a reception at Fitgers was held Thursday night.
The reception included participants of the heart health makeover challenge. Ten women started the ten-week makeover challenge in December.
They have been working with the support of medical professionals to improve health numbers and lose weight. This process isn’t only helping the participants but their families too.
“My family has been so so supportive. my husband has said we eat whatever mom eats and he’s exercising with me. We’re trying new foods and new ways of eating,” said Lisa Filzen, one of the ten challengers.
Despite progress over the past decade, heart disease remains the number one killer of women, according to the Heart Association.
