UWS Jazz Band to Host Annual Valentine’s Day Dance

Free Swing Dance Lessons Provided

The UWS Jazz Band is once again hosting their annual Valentine’s Day Dance.

It’s a fun night full of swing dancing and wonderful jazz music.

The UW-Superior band will be performing big band music.

“It’s America’s original art form. It was born in America,” said Dr. Greg Kehl Moore, Professor and Jazz Band Director. “It’s fun music and it’s creative music. The individual gets to put their own personality into the music.”

“Tommy Dorsey and Glenn Miller, all those old, great trombonists were at the forefront and they were the band leaders and there’s a lot of good trombone solos and it’s a lot of history there so I love that and I love the sound of it,” said Will Collins, UW-Superior student and trombonist in the UW-Superior Jazz Band.

The dance will be on Valentine’s Day, Sunday February 14 in the Yellowjacket Union Great Room.

There will be free swing dance lessons at 7:00 p.m. and the music and dance gets underway at 7:30 p.m.
