Man Charged after Bomb-Making Materials Found at Washburn County Home

A 48-year-old man has been charged after police found explosive components in a home in Washburn County on Tuesday.

Brett Nelson was charged with Making and Possessing Improvised Explosive Devices and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

The charges stem from an incident on Tuesday where the Washburn County Sheriff’s Office responded to information regarding possible bomb-making activities in a rural residence in the county.

The Sheriff’s Office located “explosive components” and rendered them safe.

Police said Tuesday there was no threat to public safety.

Nelson is being held in the Washburn County Jail on $25,000 bond.
