Roseville Officers Shoot, Kill man who Stabbed Police K9
Authorities in Roseville say officers fatally shot a man who stabbed a police dog.
Roseville Police Chief Rick Mathwig says officers were called to an apartment building around 10 Wednesday night after neighbors heard pounding coming from the man’s unit.
When police arrived, they also heard pounding and forced their way into the man’s apartment.
Police found a 52-year-old man hiding in a closet with a large knife.
The man made a stabbing motion, striking the dog in the jaw.
That’s when police opened fire, killing the man.
It’s not known how many officers shot at the man, but five officers involved in the incident are on administrative leave.
The police dog was treated at a veterinary hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
