Snowmobilers Prepare For Annual ‘Snowball Cancer Ride’
Fundraiser Lasts 500 Miles
Snowmobilers are preparing to embark on a 500-mile journey — all while raising money to combat the deadly disease of cancer.
One group that loves all the snow in Ironwood is the annual Snowball Cancer riders.
Founder Nick Keller has had several family members lose their battle to cancer, so the Valentine’s 500 stays close to his heart.
“Never enough money. You just keep branching out. A goal is to get some more hospitals, maybe raise the amount we do give people. Now it’s a growing thing and it keeps snowballing out,” said Keller.
The ride from Ironwood will take anywhere from 50 to 20 hours.
The money raised will go to 10 different hospitals.
The ride has raised nearly $140,000 for cancer research so far.
