Gov. Dayton Proclaims “NHL Stadium Series Weekend” in Minnesota

Governor Mark Dayton has proclaimed this weekend “NHL Stadium Series Weekend” in Minnesota.

The proclamation marks the first time a National Hockey League game will ever be played outdoors in Minnesota.

On Saturday, February 20, thousands of hockey fans will take in an alumni game featuring former greats from the Minnesota Wild, Minnesota North Stars, and Chicago Blackhawks.

On Sunday, the Minnesota Wild will take on the Chicago Blackhawks in front of a sold-out crowd of over 50,000 hockey fans at TCF Bank Stadium.

Minnesota-based Soul Asylum will kick off the game with a pre-game performance.

Cheap Trick, who were recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, will perform three hits during the first intermission.

Grammy nominated artist Jazmine Sullivan will perform the U.S. National Anthem at Sunday’s game.

The game will feature a salute to the State of Hockey during the second intermission, featuring former and current NHL and college players with ties to the game in Minnesota.
