Gloria Dei Church Holds Service Since Fire
Service Held In Another Church
Faith Lutheran Church members welcomed the members of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church with open doors, as the two congregations shared a building for their Sunday services.
Gloria Dei members witnessed their church light up in flames on Thursday, in a fire that left an estimated damage of $900,000, according to the Duluth Fire Department.
“I think I was the first Gloria Dei member to see it,” said Carol Uecker.
An Investigation on the cause of the fire is still on going.
Members say it’s not the loss of the building itself that’s the most devastating, but the community and services the church was able to offer by having the building.
With such little confirmed information on the fire, Gloria Dei has yet to set concrete plans on what to do with the building, but while the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church members figure out the details, the Faith Lutheran Church has offered to share their space.
Currently, Gloria Dei members are planning to hold their worship services at the Faith Lutheran Church through easter
“At some point during that time we will also be making a determination on where we will be meeting in the future,” said Brett Amundson, the President of Gloria Dei.
The Gloria Dei congregation is composed of around 350 people.
