Thousands Expected for Funeral of Slain North dakota Officer

The funeral of a Fargo police officer who was shot and killed while responding to a domestic violence incident is scheduled to be followed by a 21-mile procession through the Fargo metro area.

Services for 33-year-old Jason Moszer are scheduled for Monday afternoon at Scheel’s Arena in southwest Fargo.

The six-year veteran of the force died of a single gunshot wound during a standoff at a house near downtown Fargo.

Moszer leaves behind a wife and two children.

Authorities say hundreds of law enforcement officers from across the country are expected at the arena, which seats up to 6,000 people.  The procession of officers and first responders will weave through Fargo, West Fargo and Moorhead, Minnesota.

Moszer is the first Fargo police officer to die in the line of duty in more than 130 years.
