GND Rec Center Book Fair

Fair gives free books to kids.

In celebration of I Love to Read Month, the Gary New Duluth Rec Center opened their doors and pages to new books for young readers.

Kids from Stowe Elementary went shopping for new books but didn’t have to spend a penny of their own.

Each child received three new books and one used book.

The event was all made possible with a grant from the Northland Foundation.

“It’s fabulous to see the kids excited to read because if they’re going to succeed in life. Reading is the cornerstone, they’ve got to have good skills and so any little bit we can do to promote that we’re more than happy to do it,” said Fran Morris, Gary New Duluth Development Alliance board member.

The Duluth Police Department even made trips to the book fair to speak to the kids.
