What’s Left-Lives Touched by Suicide
Art exhibit features the works of those who have been affected by suicide.
Experts have called suicide in the Native American community both an epidemic and a crisis. Suicide among Native American teens is three times the national average.
The American Indian Community Housing Organization hosted What’s Left-Lives Touched by Suicide.
The traveling art exhibit features forty-one regional artists, all whose lives have been touched by suicide.
The exhibit brings awareness and provides a chance to talk about an issue that many don’t want to talk about.
“It’s just to get this out in the open, talk about it. Let people know there are others who understand them. You never make that hurt go away. Fifty years later, the edges are off of it, but it’s still here,” said Dr. Arne Vainio.
The exhibit will be on display through the end of March.
