Three Officers Shot in Chicago

Three Chicago police officers were shot Monday night and a suspect was killed following a shoot-out in a west-side neighborhood.

Officials say their injuries are not life-threatening.  All three sustained lower-body hits.

The shooting occurred as five police officers were investigating reported drug activity in the East Garfield Park neighborhood.

Police observed a man and a woman who they say were acting suspicious. When they approached the duo, the man ran into a gangway between buildings and opened fire at the officers.

One of the officers  returned fire, killing the suspect.  The woman was taken into custody.
