I-35 Tunnels Shut Down in Duluth

The tunnels on Interstate 35 in Duluth have been shut down due to standing water.

The tunnels are closed from Northbound 35 at 5th Avenue, and from Southbound 35 from 26th avenue East, and at 21st Avenue East.

Southbound traffic can get on I-35 from Lake Avenue, 5th West and Mesaba Avenue.

MnDOT crews are working in the tunnels.  They suspect plugged drains may have caused the flooding.

It’s unknown at this time when the tunnels will re-open.
