New Lacrosse Teams Seek Players

Northland Programs to Start Varsity Play this Spring

A late winter storm not withstanding, the relatively mild season should mean an early start for spring prep sports.  New at local schools this spring: Boys and Girls Lacrosse.

Duluth’s public high schools will field a co–op team and other districts are also starting programs.

Duluth Wolfpack Girls coach Sarah Cheeny says now she and other coaches need to find players.  Athletes would be nice, but prior experience is not necessary.

“That’s always ideal to have athletic people,” said Cheeny.  “You can teach skills later, but you can’t teach heart or ability.  That will be nice to recruit, but we want to get the kids that maybe never tried a sport before and show them you can do something new.”
