Duluth Police Department Swears in New Officers
Officers get their badges in ceremony
Serving the community first and foremost was the message of the Duluth Police Department as they swore in ten new officers.
Fellow officers, family, and friends filled the room to celebrate the big day.
The new officers have just one week left in their ten week orientation academy.
Their training officer says each recruit is enthusiastic about getting out and doing their duty.
“This is a good group. Their character is exceptional. I think the nice thing about this group is they want to be in this profession which all do but they’re so willing to they really are,” said Sgt. Robert Shene.
With the new officers, the Duluth Police Department will be at full staff.
However with some retirements coming soon, the hiring process will start again this summer.
The department typically holds two swearing in ceremonies a year.
