LSC Requests Funding for Major Building Repairs
The School is Requesting $1.5 in Repairs
Lake Superior College is trying to keep their campus Safe, Warm and Dry, by seeking funds for building repairs.
LSC is requesting Higher Education Asset Preservation and Replacement funding for building repairs and maintenance.
The request is included in Governor Dayton’s and the Minnesota State Colleges and University system’s HEAPR request for building repairs and maintenance for 20 MnSCU campuses.
Governor Dayton is proposing 80 million dollars for roof repairs across the MnScu system, and LSC is hoping to receive 1.5 million dollars of that for repairs on 3 roofs and some walls.
The faulty roofs are impacting some of the school’s academic programs, and the campus store.
School representatives say even if they receive the funding, it would only cover about 10% of the work that needs to be done on the school.
