Council Pres. Talks New Councilors, Including Son
Superior City Council President Tom Fennessey spoke out Wednesday about Tuesday’s election and the voting of three new councilors to the council.
“When you do get new members on the council, they bring in new ideas, new energy, new perspective, and that’s what keeps things going and that’s what keeps the community progressive,” said Fennessey.
Meanwhile, one of those new councilors is actually Fennessey’s son, Brent, who beat out incumbent Denise McDonald in Tuesday’s election.
“I’m not going to treat him any different on the council — whether he’s my son or colleague as a city councilor. So, I think it’s unique, and I think it’s great for him. And he’s wanted this for a long time,” Fennessey explained.
Mayor Bruce Hagen’s office told FOX 21’s Dan Hanger Wednesday that a father-son duo on the Superior City Council has never happened before.
The new council will be sworn in on April 19.
