Pier B Resort In Final Stretch To Completion
Pier B Resort is an old cement plant, complete with giant storage silos. But now, it is expected to become one of the most sought–after resort destinations in the Midwest. FOX 21’s Chelsee Moe gives you an update on construction.
The resort will have 140 rooms, a banquet center, boat ramps and a bridge that is the only one of its kind in the Northland.
The bridge is a trellis-styled structure that will connect people from Bayfront to Canal Park.
It will also have a 35-foot opening for large boats as well as small boats — with transient docking.
Alessandro Giuliani, the co-developer, said “Its going to be a bridge that can bring maintenance trucks back and forth, but it will be basically to bring public in. It doesn’t go up or expand in the middle, it slides back and forth.”
With a new bridge like this as well as the resorts other features, business supervisors all across Canal Park are expecting a great rise in their business.
Matt Erickson, floor supervisor at Grandma’s, said “It’s nice to see new things. A lot of places like Grandma’s have been around 20 to 40 years so it is nice to see something new.”
The new resort will be just 150 feet away from the Bayfront Park’s entertainment stage, and with a working harbor you can see boats come within 200 feet from the resort’s deck. They will offer kayaks, paddle boarding and much more.
The completion date is June 10th and people are already making reservations.
