Fairview Range On Sexual Assault Awareness Month
Medical Center Officer Free, Confidential Exams
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and one hospital wants to erase the fear of getting examined if such a horrific event were to happen to you or a loved one.
Fairview Range in Hibbing employs ten Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE), who offer free and confidential exams to victims.
“I think for myself and for the staff, we see the sexual assaults come in and just to have the better understanding and to better take care of our patients to give them the care they need and they deserve if they’ve been assaulted,” said registered nurse Cyndi Klobuchar.
The nurses collect evidence and only present it to the authorities if the patient chooses to press charges.
However, the evidence is saved for eighteen months in case a patient changes their mind and wants to report the incident.
