Final Design Underway Of Belknap Reconstruction
Project Will Start In 2017
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation and the city of Superior are in the process of final design for the reconstruction of Belknap Street — from Banks Avenue to Hill Avenue.
After the proposed project is complete, Belknap Street will have four through lanes, two in each direction, and seven existing traffic signals, according to city officials.
Raised medians would be added in select locations, and a raised safety median would be installed near the rail corridor.
The whole project is estimated to cost around $20 million.
The project will also include improvements to parking, sidewalks and bikers.
The construction will start in April of 2017 and the project should be complete around October of 2018.
