UMD Engineer Students Could Be Designing Future Military Tool
The U.S. Air Force is recruiting the help of engineering students at UMD. College seniors across the nation were given the challenge of re-designing the military’s rope repelling gloves.
On Tuesday, the UMD students demonstrated a new type of gloves that have additional padding and are made from lamb and deer.
“Our new gloves significantly reduce heat experienced, said Allen Dotzenrod, an engineering student at UMD.
The design team of students will be traveling to Tennessee next week to compete against other universities.
According to team leaders, if they win there is a possibility the repel glove could have a future being utilized in the military.
