Popo Gets Adopted

Dog came into Animal Allies obese and barely could walk, now she's healthy and has found a home.

After spending a year and a day at the Animal Allies Humane Society in Duluth, a beloved K9 has found a home.

When Popo came into the shelter she was unlike anything they’ve seen before.

She needed two people just to help her walk, but now those four legs are on their own and going home.

Popo came into the shelter obese, weighing nearly seventy-six pounds and basically would just lay on the floor.

But with a little exercise and having both ACLs replaced, Popo lost forty pounds.

A foster parent took care of Popo starting in September and now she can’t leave those eyes behind and will be Popo’s owner and forever friend.

“.I wanted to foster because I wasn’t sure if I was ready to have a dog in my life and fostering it made me know that ok, I can make the arrangements to be able to have a dog in my life. I can take care of her as well as she deserves,” said Tiffany Jonasen who adopted Popo.

“It’s really exciting for us, honestly Popo has become our little mascot here. We all love her so much. We’re going to miss her but we’re really excited she’s going to her forever home,” said Nicole Facciotto, adoption counselor.

Her surgeries were paid in part by the healing hearts and paws fund that was created last fall.

The fund helps care for animals that might require extra medical and behavioral care.

Now through the end of April, an anonymous donor will match up to ten percent of all the donations coming into the shelter.
