Parks and Rec Commission Approves Chester Bowl Chalet Improvements

The current chalet isn't energy efficient and not large enough for programs.

In a special meeting, the Duluth Parks and Recreation commission decided to go forward with improvements to the Chester Bowl Chalet.

The current chalet isn’t energy efficient and not large enough to hold all of the programs held at the Chester Bowl.

Unanimous approval by the commission means the Chester Bowl Improvement Club passed their first hurdle to beginning the fundraising process.

“The unanimous decision is definitely very encouraging. I think it shows that the community is behind this project, that people see the need for a chalet expansion and renovation and ultimately that will lead us to a successful project,” said Dave Schaeffer, executive director of the Chester Bowl Improvement Club.

The chalet improvements still need to be approved by the planning commission and the city council.
