Council Approves Spirit Mountain Budget

Council calls the park's budget realistic and that they're on a firm foundation.

Directors of Spirit Mountain feel they’re in a much better place than they were last year.

They can point to successes and gains in five out of their eight revenue streams. They saw gains in mountain biking, lesson programs, in their adventure park and have seen more wedding and banquet bookings.

The council saw their $5.5 million budget as realistic.

“I feel very strongly that we are a positive for the city. We’re a positive for our locals and we’re a positive for bringing tourism dollars into Duluth as well,” said Spirit Mountain executive director Brandy Ream.

The council unanimously decided to approve Spirit Mountain’s budget.

However, Spirit Mountain will still ask for tourism tax allocation dollars for capital investments.

Councilors added that Spirit Mountain has made great strides in finding a strong and firm financial footing.

They added the unanimous decision shows the council’s confidence in Spirit Mountain’s leadership.
