Students host Escape to the Tropics event

A group of University of Wisconsin Superior students decided to do some good deeds and have some fun while they’re at it.

The students hosted the “Escape to the Tropics” charity event tonight.

Live music from local reggae bands filled the yellow jacket union.

The organizers encouraged students and community members to donate drinking water for those affected by the Flint Michigan water crisis. They say that sharing is the key to a better future.

Chantele Nelson, a student organizer, said “To give, and love, and learn from whoever you see, and just to know that there’s a better world out there.”

The event brought in more than 15 cases of water, to be sent out to Flint, as well as non–perishable food items for local food banks.
