Duluth School Board Says No to Edison Once Again

School board decides once again not to sell old Central site to Edison Charter Schools.

Just in March, the Duluth school board decided not to waive policy to allow the potential sale of the old Central site to Edison Charter Schools.

But after much public comment, the school board decided to pick up the issue again.

After lengthy discussion and even more public comment, the school board decided not to waive from policy once again.

If the policy to sell a school property to another school were waived, the school district would have entertained an offer of over $14 million from Tischer Creek which represents Edison Charter Schools.

The majority of speakers in the audience were in favor of opening up the discussion and selling the old Central High School.

The school district is facing a $3 million deficit and the elimination of zero hour.

The school board is still entertaining offers for the site.
