Gregoire named Ashland Police Chief
A new Chief of Police has been named in Ashland.
The Ashland Police and Fire Commission officially appointed Jim Gregoire as Chief of Police on Monday night.
Gregoire has been serving as Interim Chief following the retirement of Greg BeBeau in early January.
Gregoire is an 18-year vet of the Ashland Police Department.
He started his career with Ashland as a patrol officer, working up the ranks to Investigator, Field Training Officer and Vehicle Contacts Instructor, Captain and Interim Chief.
“Being named the Chief of Police for my hometown is a humbling experience indeed. I was born and raised here and consider the citizens of Ashland members of my family. I intend on giving 100 percent effort in keeping the citizens of this city and the officers of this department safe. I consider this department one of the finest in the state and will continue moving forward in a positive manner,” said Chief Gregoire.
The Police and Fire Commission says there were three internal candidates who applied for the Police Chief position.
“We spoke with all of the officers and inquired as to how Jim was doing. Everyone went to bat for Jim and said he was doing an excellent job. We are putting our faith in Jim. I’m sure he is going to do the citizens and city of Ashland well as Chief of Police,” said Gordon Gilbertson, President of the Police and Fire Commission.
