Motorcyclists Hit The Training Course For Safety

With warmer air moving in and the summer season on its way, more motorcycles are hitting the roads across the Northland.

To get prepared, some motorcyclists hit the training course in Virginia Sunday to get their skills toned up to stay safe and be prepared for deadly intersections.

β€œTo make it almost automatic that when that deer runs out in front of you, you know how to reach and squeeze both breaks and get that motorcycle stopped — or when that car pulls out in front of you,” said Todd Carlson, and instructor with Minnesota Motorcycle Safety Center.

β€œI always want to freshen my skills, so this is really great. You forget some things during winter. This will definitely help,” said John Taray, a motorcycle rider from Cherry.

In Minnesota alone, 61 motorcyclists were killed in 57 crashes during the 2015 riding season.
