Police Searching for Missing Elderly Woman with Dementia on the Iron Range

Police are searching for a missing elderly woman with dementia on the Iron Range.

75-year-old Katherine Bougalis left the Diamond Willow Memory Care Center with her grandson on May 2, without her guardian’s permission.  She has not been seen since.

Authorities say she may be traveling with her daughter, 52-year-old Joanne Bougalis, in a red 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee with Minnesota license plate 855-RYL.

Police say Katherine suffers from dementia with short and long term memory impairment and her ability to problem solve and make decisions has diminished.

According to police, her daughter does not have permission to travel with her.

Police say Katherine and her daughter have ties to the Hibbing area, North Carolina and Arizona.

Anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to contact the Hibbing Police Department at 218-742-9825 or the Grand Rapids Police Department at 218-326-3463.
