Tower Keeps Busy with Projects

New townhomes are in the works next to the Tower Harbor.

The Tower Vision 2025 plan wants to bring economic growth to the community by first updating an aging housing stock.

Developer Orlyn Kringstad sees what the city of Tower can become.

“I feel a lot of confidence not just raving optimism,” said Kringstad.

The vision is to build twenty new townhomes near the Tower Harbor.

“Most of the homes are turn of the century and I’m talking 1900 and not 2000 so this could definitely bring a lot of new housing stock and needed stock,” said city clerk and treasurer Linda Keith.

The first phase of the project will bring the townhomes, create a new walk and bike trail by the bridge and add kayak routes.

“It should be very interesting and very exciting in the next year to two years in Tower,” said Keith.

Most of the underground work is done and a groundbreaking is scheduled for fall with the new homes opening next summer.

“Tower Vision 2025 is really all about economic development, not just building a townhomes,” said Kringstad.

The community has heard about this project for years, but now can see some movement on the issue.

“I think the people are starting to believe that it’s really going to happen,” said Kringstad.

The city hopes the townhomes are the gateway to growth and a chance to see a tower of rural sustainability.

“We’re here to stay,” said Kringstad.
