Grand Rapids Teen Charged with Helping Suspect in Beheading
Teen Facing Charges for Allegedly Helping Murder Suspect
A Grand Rapids teen is facing charges in connection to a decapitation near Ball Club.
Nineteen year old, Triston Corwin is facing five counts for his alleged involvement with the suspects in the beheading of 20–year–old David Haiman of Hibbing.
Those charges include theft of a motor vehicle, fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, fourth degree driving while impaired and fleeing a peace officer on foot.
Corwin is accused of leading police on a chase in the murder victim’s vehicle.
Police first tried to pull him over while he was driving the man who is the main suspect in the beheading.
In the criminal complaint, it says he claimed that the suspect, 35–year–old Joseph Thoresen of Grand Rapids, was holding him at knife–point and made him keep going.
However, authorities say they never found a knife.
Thoresen is accused of stabbing Haiman with a machete and then beheading him with a knife.
Thoresen said he believes Haiman raped his girlfriend.
His bail is set at $2 million and he’ll be in court again August 29th.
His girlfriend, 22–year–old Kayleene Greniger, is facing a count of being an accomplice to second degree murder and another for third degree assault.
She’s accused of hiding the machete.
Her next court appearance will be July 18th.
Corwin will be back in court September 20th.
