Progress on the Gary New Duluth Recreation Center
Fundraising in Full Force for New Recreation Center
Phase one for the new Gary New Duluth Recreation Center is starting up, and officials involved with the project are looking to fundraise for future expenses.
Mark Boben, President of the Board of Gary New Duluth Development Alliance says the $2.5 million dollar project officially started last summer.
The new Community Center is already finished.
This season, phase one will focus on the outdoor recreation area, including two soccer fields, an open air pavilion, green space, and plenty of parking.
Drainage issues have already been improved on site, according to Boben.
A huge fundraising raffle is taking place July 21-23. Grand prize includes a Polaris Sportsman ATV.
Tickets can be purchased for $10 dollars at Damage Board Shop, Johnson Mertz, Andrens Paint and the Milk House.
Two more phases will complete the project, including a community garden, dog park, sports court and a skate board park.
