Landlords and Tenants in Duluth Meet to Discuss Available Services

Non-Profit Program One Roof Community Housing Takes Action

Landlords and tenants in Duluth had the chance to learn the rules and explore services available to them on Tuesday at the Coppertop Church.

The Tenant Landlord Connection is all part of a local non-profit program called One Roof Community Housing.

With a mission of enriching lives and communities one home at a time, One Roof helps landlord learn local laws and government rules, assists tenants by hosting ready-to-rent workshops, and even provides mediation services to help resolve any disputes between neighbors or renters.

Jackie Kemp, One Roof Education and Counseling Director said, “Our goal with the program is to be a neutral resource for landlords and tenants and to be able to provide information and problem solving assistance for any issue that might come up in renting.”

Experts from Minneapolis were on site Tuesday, answering questions and sharing advice.

“We offer these regular workshops for landlords and tenants and then also we are available Monday through Friday 8:00–4:30, we’ve got staff on hand to answer any questions of tenants or landlords,” Kemp said.

Three more workshops will be taking place for landlords on August 9, 23, and September 7.
