The Lake Superior Community Health Center Offers Free Mammograms

Women Can Receive Free Mammograms

Today, the Lake Superior Community Health Center in Duluth offered a special event to help area women.

A special mobile unit came to the center, offering onsite mammograms.

Mammograms are a simple and convenient way to be screened for cancer.

To eliminate financial barriers, the health center is partnering with the Minnesota Department of Health Sage Program.

This program pays for mammograms and pap tests for uninsured women.

Women between the ages of 50 to 64 had an opportunity to come by and get checked today for free.

Dayle Patterson, the Chief Executive of Lake Superior Health Center, said “Cancer screening is absolutely critical. There is a history in my family and so its personal to me. Cancer screening saves thousands of lives.”

Women who came by today also received a gift bag and were entered into a drawing for a gift card.
