DTA Offers Free Rides to Beat the Heat
The DTA will be giving free rides to the DECC for those who need a place to cool off
If anyone needs some relief from all the heat, the Duluth Transit Authority is offering the coolest ride in town.
The DTA is giving free rides to Amsoil Arena and the DECC where anyone can enjoy free air conditioning.
There’s even a youth hockey tournament going on so many can think of cooler temperatures.
The DTA has offered similar services in the winter, but this is the first of its kinds with the summer heat.
“This isn’t an emergency but it’s something that affects quality of life and as I’ve said we have the capacity on the buses. It’s no big issue for us. We have a person on standby usually on a daily basis anyway, so we’re making use of that individual,” said DTA General Manager Dennis Jensen.
The cooling place at the DECC has water, free wi-fi, and cell phone charging stations.
The DECC and Amsoil are also pet friendly during the heat wave.
