Gunfire Erupts at Nightclub in Fort Myers
A teen event ends in 2 dead and others wounded
Gunfire erupted at a nightclub, Club Blu, in Fort Myers, Florida. The nightclub was hosting a swimsuit-themed party for teens when gunfire ensued, leaving two teens dead and at least 17 other people wounded, early Monday.
The victims of the shooting were 14-year-old Sean Archilles and 18-year-old Stef’an Strawder.
Four people were in the hospital, two are in critical condition and two in fair condition, chief administrative officer at Lee Memorial Health System told the Associated Press.
All of the other patients have been treated and released. Victims range in ages 12-27.
The nightclub is located in a strip mall that includes a daycare center and is across the street from a large apartment complex.
The shooting occurred around 12:30 am Monday, just as the club was closing and parents were arriving to pick up their children.
This shooting comes more than a month after a nightclub shooting in Orlando, at the Pulse Nightclub on June 12 that left 49 people dead and 53 others wounded.
