Power Outage Keeps Duluth Business Closed

Five Days of No Power For Duluth Business

While many homeowners are waiting in desperation for the power to come back on, some businesses are also still without electricity.

That means a major loss of revenue, with no clear idea of when the problem will be fixed.

Matilda’s Dog Bakery on Superior Street in Duluth is one of those places impacted.
A power line broke in three places and left wires blanketing the business.

Business owner Joann Elliot says some of the lines are still live causing some major safety concerns. Despite the dangers, they’re still waiting for some help.

“Safety that’s an issue,” said Elliot. “We have live wires and fireworks this afternoon. I know the system is stressed but we’re on a major street. Business is closed, something has to happen.”

Elliot says they’re not even able to sell things for cash outside because the lot still has wires down. Monday will be day five of no business for the bakery.
