Twin Ports Pro Development Camp Opens

Camp Run By Superior Natives Gives Kids a Chance to Learn From Pros

The 2nd annual Twin Ports Pro Development Camp started Monday in at the Superior Ice Hockey Association rink.  The TPDC is the only local hockey camp where kids can learn from current pros, who also happen to be from the Twin Ports.

About 60 kids from Pee–Wees all the way up to high schoolers signed up for the camp run by Superior natives Brett Olson and Mike Sislo.

The campers will spend the next couple days learning on and off the ice.
These local pros say they give back as a way to encourage the next wave of local talent.

“There’s always people you look up to, always mentors in your life that affect yo, no matter what the walks of life are,” said Olson.  “School, hockey, sports, anything like that.  For us to come back and put together something like this and try to be an example for the community really hits home with us.”

“There’s a lot of people we looked up to, and hopefully we can provide that as well for these kids,” added Sislo.  “If we can improve their game and make them better players when they walk away from here and have fun as well, mission accomplished.”

The camp runs 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. through Thursday at the SAHA rink in Superior. The public is invited to watch.
