Man Killed in Wisconsin Standoff with Police
A standoff in Lincoln County left the shooter dead
Authorities say a 50-year-old suspect fired at law officers during a standoff in Lincoln County before police shot and killed the individual.
The Associated Press reports that the suspect was identified Wednesday as Scot Minard of Eagle River.
Four officers had returned fire in Tuesday’s standoff, striking and killing Minard.
The names of the officers have not been released, but have been identified as two Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies, a Langlade County deputy and an Antigo police officer.
The incident started during a traffic stop in Antigo Tuesday morning, when Minard shot at an officer. A high-speed chase followed, ending in Pine River when authorities were able to deflate Minard’s tires. Minard remained armed during the hour-long standoff.
The Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation is leading the investigation.
