Harrison Ford Set to Take Flight at AirVenture Oshkosh

16-year-old gets the opportunity to fly with Ford this afternoon

Hollywood actor and pilot, Harrison Ford, is set to take to the skies during the AirVenture Oshkosh 2016 air show.

The Associated Press reports that the star is scheduled to fly Thursday July 28 in the afternoon with a special guest.

His passenger will be 16-year-old Jodi Gawthrop of Westchester, Illinois. Gawthrop won a national contest through the Young Eagle program, which uses pilot and ground volunteers to introduce children to flying.

Ford served as a chairman of the Young Eagle program from 2004 to 2009.

Ford is taking her flying to celebrate the program reaching two-million members.

Participants of the program receive free, online learn-to-fly program, along with free flight lessons and access to flight training and college scholarships.

Gawthrop will receive a $7,500 flight training scholarship.
