Salvation Army Works Toward Fundraising Goal

Salvation Army Attempting to Stock Food Pantry Shelves

The Salvation Army in Duluth is trying to keep their shelves stocked.

This July they are holding a Open Your Heart to the Hungry and Homeless summer challenge to raise $5,000 for the food shelf, but are coming up short with just a few days left in the month.

So far they have only raised just under $1,000, only a portion of their goal.
“The food shelf is in demand, it continues to be in demand,” said Major Bill Cox. “There’s been a little increase because of the disaster. We want to be prepared, having it filled up with product is very important.”

If the Salvation Army can raise $5,000, that amount will be matched in Partnership of Hunger Solutions of Minnesota. Donations will be accepted through Sunday.
