Duluth Storm Response Update

The latest on debris pick up and trail information

The City of Duluth will be continuing their curbside pickup the week of August 1, focusing on the Woodland, Morley Heights, and Hunters Park neighborhoods. City and contracted crews are aware that more areas need attention.

Starting the week of August 1, the City will be relying strictly on City staff for debris pick up over the next two weeks. Residents will notice fewer crews as some staff return to finishing outstanding street and utility projects.

The City is currently conducting an open bid process for a new tree service provider to assist with debris clean up.

A reminder that the city will not pick up yard waste, household items, garbage, or construction materials.

The drop off site located on Rice Lake Road in Duluth will remain open for residential use. The City requests the public not pick up wood debris from the drop off because of safety reasons, the City needs to track debris, and any ash tree mixed into the debris should not be moved to other parts of the city in order to prevent any potential spread of the Emerald Ash Borer.

Update on the Hartley Park and Lester Trails:

  • Hartley Park remains closed to the general public through next week. The City does not have a timeline for debris clean up in the park at this time. Trails inside the park are still closed.
  • Most Lester Park multi-use trails are open. The ski trails are closed.
  • Check local conditions and look for signage.
  • For safety reasons, do not venture into closed trails.
