Fewer Buck-Only Zones for Minnesota Deer Hunters
Restrictions will be eased this fall
Deer hunting restrictions will be eased in Minnesota this deer hunting season.
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources says one-deer limits are still in place for much of the state, but there will be nine fewer zones where hunters can only take bucks.
DNR big game program leader, Adam Murkowski told the Star Tribune that a couple of mild winters have improved deer populations. The whitetail herd has been estimated at about 1 million.
Licenses for this deer season went on sale Monday August 1. Approximately 159,000 deer were taken by hunters last season.
Bow hunting season is 47 days away.
