National Night Out Brings Communities Together
Events across the Twin Ports enhances the relationships between neighbors.
National Night Out comes during a time when police departments across the country are focusing on rebuilding trust, healing wounds, and strengthening bonds with the communities they serve.
Hundreds across Duluth celebrated National Night Out with barbecues and picnics.
It gave over fifty Duluth police officers the chance to get to know their community in a positive way.
“It’s a great night for us to go out, meet new people and make relationships and really in policing it’s all about relationships, the more you know the community, the better we are at our jobs,” said Duluth Police Chief Mike Tusken.
It was also an opportunity to meet others from communities across the state.
Kids from First Lutheran Church in Alexandria took a mission trip to Duluth to help out at CHUM’s Night Out event.
“We are here to inspire people as a group and I believe that when you all work together, you can inspire a lot of people, so we just wanted to come to help people and feel good,” said Kaylee Meyer from First Lutheran.
This is the second year the group from Alexandria helped out at CHUM.
