Huskies Break Attendance Record

52,432 Fans Have Come to Wade Stadium this Summer

The Duluth Huskies won’t make the Northwoods League playoffs this season, but 2016 has been a banner year at the box office.

More than 2,400 fans came out to Wednesday’s game against Rochester, giving the Huskies 52,432 fans for the season, breaking the team’s single season attendance record for the second year in a row.

Huskies General Manager Greg Culver belives an aggresive promotional schedule has helped pack Wade Stadium all summer.

“For all the fun things we have to offer, oh by the way, there’s a baseball game going on,” said Culver of the game-day experience at Wade Stadium.  “Whether the team is succeeding or not doing as well, the fans have been coming out and enjoying themselves and rooting the Huskies on.”

The Huskies have two home games left, Aug. 11-12 against Rochester.  The Aug. 11 game features a pre-game professional wrestling match, as well as a post game concert.

August 12th is the Huskies’ annual nine innings of winning promotion, followed by Big Wave Dave and the Ripples, and fireworks.

The team needs to average about 3,800 fans for each to meet Culver’s goal of 60,000 fans this season.
