Hundreds Come Out to Cast Their Vote in the Primary Elections
The Primary Elections Take Place in Minnesota and Wisconsin
Voter turnout in both Minnesota and Wisconsin are expected to be fairly low overall, which is typical for primary elections but there are several contested races around the Northland drawing voter attention.
Election workers said that they saw a consistent flow of people throughout the day.
The only statewide race on the ballot in Minnesota will reduce three Supreme Court candidates to two for the November general election. Six House races are also being voted on in various locations across the state, along with quite a few legislative seats.
Locally, there are a pair of St. Louis County board seats and a couple of State Representative slots for the general election being decided.
You can register to vote in Minnesota right on site.
Cynthia Albright, an Election Judge in Duluth, said “We can register on the day of the election but its so helpful if people will look up how to register and what documents they need in order to register and do it beforehand.”
Several key races are on the Wisconsin ballot. In Douglas County, the Register of Deeds and County Treasurer positions are on the ballot.
There is also a U.S. Senate race on the Democratic side and candidates for the 7th District U.S. House race will be picked.
The race drawing a lot of voter interest is for District Attorney where incumbent Dan Blank is being challenged by Mark Fruehauf.
Pamela Brokaw, the Superior Chief Inspector, said “If you want your candidate to win and look at what your candidate is for you’ll come out and vote.”
Some of today’s winners will not face any challengers in November while others will advance to face other competition in the General Election.
