Bayfield Author Publishes Book on Northwestern Wisconsin
Early Life Among the Indians: The 1892 Memoir of Benjamin Armstrong
A Bayfield County author has published another book on Northwestern Wisconsin.
James Brakken, of Cable, focuses all of his writings on Northern Wisconsin, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and Northern Minnesota.
His newest novel is titled “The Annotated Early Life Among the Indians: The 1892 Memoir of Benjamin Armstrong”.
It follows the events of Armstrong’s life as a trapper, trader, and trusted friend of the Great Lakes Ojibwe.
Brakken will have a book launch tonight, August 11 at the Douglas County Historical Society from 5:00-7:00 p.m.
The historical society museum is located at 1101 John Avenue in Superior.
This is a free event with refreshments and a PowerPoint slide show.
A second book launch celebration will take place Sunday, August 14, from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. at the Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center near Ashland.
